About The Artist

Welcome to one of my passions. I have always enjoyed jewelry but also all of the beautiful rocks and stones that nature creates for us. I have discovered a way to combine both loves as well as using my creative soul.

My creating jewelry started with designing and making barrettes. (Yes, barrettes are not just to hold the hair out of your face). When I was starting to work with polymer clay, I met a very talented artist and teacher who has helped me along the way. She taught me the techniques that I started with. We still spend hours “playing” and creating together.

As a youngster, I would always pick up the rocks that caught my eye. Usually they where the ones that sparkled and gleamed when I saw them so I had to look closer. Some of them actually made it home with me only to sit and collect dust because I had no idea of what to do with them. As I grow older, I still “collected” those cool rocks and things. My husband and I had watched an episode of \“Cash and Treasures\” that had the hostess looking for gems in North Carolina. It looked really fun and the show made it look easy. My husband and I decided that we would try it and off we went. Well, it wasn’t as easy but it was fun and we came home with bags of goodies to play with. But what do we do with all of the gems. We started to polish them and really liked what came out of the tumbler. Soon I had to figure out what to do with all of the stones that we had collected. Since I already did some wire wrapping, I decide to try it with some of the stones that I had polished. I became addicted to it!

My husband and I also took a trip to Herkimer County New York and collected Herkimer Diamonds. (We had watched another episode of “Cash and Treasures”). It was hard work but really wonderful to find the quartz that I didn’t have to do anything to but figure out how to turn them into jewelry. By this time, my husband had done more research and found other places we could go and find cool stuff. He has made trips to Nevada and California and mailed me back rocks from there. We have done beach combing in Washington State and mailed home rock and sea glass. We have camped along the Great Lakes and returned home with stones and beach glass. We are planning trips elsewhere, combining our love of traveling and rock hounding.

I am always looking for new ways to create with the stones and stuff that we return home with. I enjoy putting the stones in the tumbler and seeing how they look when they are fully polished. (Some of them take a few trials and errors before they are truly sparkly). I have been surprised more then once.

Please keep coming back. I am always discovering new ways of turning jewelry into wearable art.
